But first a throw-back.
Decorating with crates is one of the hot themes in home decorating these days. Below you will see some pictures where I have used apple crates for easy vintage decorating such as book cases and other uses as furniture like a dividing wall.
These apple crates came from the local fruit auction and I had them cleaned up and varnished. Back in the time, I moved around a lot and they are great for packing breakables. Al-bite a bit heavy, so to move books they are not at all recommended.
I loved these crates, and was very sad when I could not bring them with me to Canada. By now there is nothing left of them. So enjoy a peak into my past!
Re-organizing and easy vintage decorating
In the spring I did some re-organizing and cleaning up, in order to make room for a new cupboard to hold all my craft supplies. There was no more room for these crates, that had served as my craft space until then.
With an empty wall, asking to get some decorations, it was easy to pile these vintage crates and make them into an easy vintage display.
This old party phone came from my parents-in-law. When you crank the handle, the bell still dings!
These white corners used to decorate the door frames in their house.
This old water kettle made for a great plant pot, it has holes in the bottom, so it will leak, but I love the look of it.
This old Singer sewing machine used to belong to my husbands grand mother. The cabinet it was housed in was completely wrecked, but the machine it self still looks great. Look at the beautiful decorations!
Who does not love Mason jars! You can see here how I made these.
And this “Memories” sign was picked up at a yard sale one time, it fits perfect in this display.
On the other side I have displayed some old egg carton crates, with atop these old tin cake pans.
