Re-covering the old chair and couch
Years ago, I recovered this old couch and chair that was given to us. We love John Deere, so that was the material I choose at that time. Because it was just regular cotton fabric, it was starting to show its wear. There were also stains that I was unable to remove. Time for a facelift! For me it was the second time that I was recovering these furniture items.

Old cover
I had lots of old denim and old jeans given to me. So I decided to use some of this fabric for my third, and hopefully last re-cover.
Getting started

Sorting the denim
I mixed and matched and measured and fitted.

Pieces were sewn together to make bigger pieces.

I liked the idea of adding pockets to the cover for interest.

Getting the fit right
For the pattern, I used the old covers.

In the back ground are the cushions in the original fabric.

Checking for the fit. I had to add some pieces here and there to make it properly fit the pillows.

The bottom seams were hand stitched close. I used strong upholstery thread for durability.

And finished
It was an involved project that took quite a bit of time, but I really like how the end result came out. And I only broke 4 sewing machine needles!!

Well, what do you think? I would imagine this will stand up for as long as I need it to be. There are no plans to recover them ever again as far as I am concerned. Now we just need nice enough weather to sit on the veranda and enjoy them!
