How to make your own custom name sign
Making your own sign is not hard to do. A while a go the middle son gave me this “Welcome” sign.

Welcome sign
I thought it was very cute. Then during some renovations at the youngest son’s kitchen a piece of 2×6 was cut from the original house. Now I didn’t want to waist a perfectly good piece of wood. After all this is a piece of history. So I decided to make a sign board. The only preparation of the wood I did was giving it a good brushing.

starting with a piece of wood
I drew letters on the back side of a piece of wall paper. Then I cut one set out of dark blue and another set, just a bit smaller out of a lighter blue. I really liked the blue color with the wood back ground. After cutting them out I positioned them on the plank where I wanted them. A little bit of Mod Podge to glue it all in place…

Decorating

And here it is
I dabbed a little paint around the letters and added a flower and pine cones. The farm was established in 1922, so this needed to be on the sign as well. It turned out really great I think, and it is still part of the old house this way.
