Do you know what your why is?
Revised and updated July 2015
Having a “why” or a reason why we do something is important.
Why is it important, and why should everyone have a clear understanding of their why.
I will try to explore this a bit more with you.
Imagine…
Imagine a ship, rudderless in the water, unable to steer, unable to follow a course, just being tossed about…
Having a why is like being able to steer and follow your course. It is like having a compass that shows you where North is. Without a compass, or our “why”, we are like that ship, just being tossed about, no course to follow.
Now having a compass does not mean you always follow a straight course. Sometimes we have to go east for a while, or back track a bit, before we can follow our course north again.
Life is a lot like that, we sometimes lose our path, or we are not able to move (forward) at all. But having a “why”, our compass, will be helpful to keep us focused and on track. Eventually we will reach our goal.
Why I started blogging
What is my why to get into blogging? This may almost seem like a no-brainer, right? Isn’t it obvious that you want to write and engage others? Well mostly yes, I also want to make money. This alone is not the main reason I turned to blogging. My main job is in the health care field as a nurse. Nursing is not always an easy job, but I love doing it. Because it gets me in contact with lots of wonderful people! I am able to help them, do stuff for them they cannot do for them self, help them to improve their health, and often I get to teach them one way or another and I learn something every day.
Blogging
This is not so very different to why I started blogging. Here too I meet lots of wonderful and interesting people, I learn, I teach and I show people how to build a better life for them self. Is it easy? Depends on how you look at it, it does take a lot of commitment. And getting a lot of followers it is not something that happens overnight, but then I did not become a nurse overnight. I had to work hard, and still work hard and learn every day. But I love the process, of both, being a nurse and setting up a blog. I don’t expect to grow rich overnight, but I do expect to build a successful business.
So here are a few of my whys. But the most important one is that I want financial freedom for my family and myself. This does not mean I have to be a millionaire, but having the freedom to enjoy life BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MORTGAGE PAYMENTS AND OTHER DEBT FOR MY FAMILY. That is my why, I continue to build my blog, and why I am fortunate that there is a great community of bloggers with wonderful talented and generous people. All of them willing to share their experiences and willing to each newbies like myself.
So what is your why?
I love to hear what your why is, so leave a comment, and I will get back to you.
Do something today that your future self will thank you for.
