You have seen them. I have made them. And here are my newest and cutest little gnomes.
The materials

Sorry the picture is not as good as I would have liked, but here is the list of materials I started out with:
- Hot glue gun
- paper roll
- felt in different colours
- scrap of fur
- and 1.75″ styrofoam balls from the dollar store

The process
I cut the paper roll into sections with a knife. (Be careful not to cut yourself!)
Then measured around the tube for the grey felt to go all the way around. The red felt will become the cape, and the black triangle is for the hat. When measuring for this, make sure it fits around the styrofoam ball, but not to snuggly.

The grey felt, or body part, was hand stitched in place. I figured it would make it more durable this way.

Same was done with the hat, and a little jingle bell was sewn to the top.

You can see here, that the bottom inch was left open.

The red cape was glued around the top to the body.

Then came the styrofoam head. Be careful when gluing the styrofoam as it will melt when it comes into contact with the hot glue gun.

The scrap piece of fur is used for the beard, and a pearly bead for the nose.

I curled the hat around the nose and pulled it over the styrofoam ball. Then glued it into place. I like how the hat “sits” on top of the nose and the two “tails” in the back. A little dab of glue was used to keep the cape open.
The final result

And here they are all together.

Well what do you think?
