Introducing January face of the month
This year I decided to do a monthly faces challenge for myself. Every month I will draw, paint, color a different face representing that month.
Because I started a bit late in January, namely the 29th of January, I did not get that month’s face done in time, and I forgot to make a picture right from the start, so I can only show the completed picture.
I associate January with cold, snow and winter. This picture reflects some of these conditions, with snow flakes big and small surrounding the face. This blue to me looks cold and icy and reflective of snow.
I used pencil, pastel crayons and chalk for the face and love how the hood looks furry in the picture. For the background I used distress ink and painted over it with water, then added the snowflakes using a stencil and texture paste.
My materials are quite “vintage”, some of these I have had for over 35 years. Needless to say I do not always have a lot of time creating that is why I thought I would set myself this monthly challenge, just for the fun of it.
