October is Halloween month. Therefor this months face for October is Halloween themed. What better than having the wicked witch of the East stand in for this months face!
I had bought this book a while ago at Micheal’s, here is the Amazon link if you want to buy it your self. (*this id not an affiliate link). And when I was looking for inspiration I came upon the Wicked Witch.
Isn’t she just great? And wicked?
How i draw the pictures
Here you can see how I set up my painting. I take a short cut with the drawing, simple because it would take me forever to make a good, satisfying drawing of the subject I want to paint. So here is my little secret: I take a picture with my phone, then enlarge it on the computer and print the size I want. I then transfer the image with carbon paper to the canvas. This way I always have the proportions right from the start, and as you can see I do not need a lot of detail
So there you have it, my little secret is out 😉 In this painting I did the hair after lightly painting in the shadow parts on the face. Again the painting is done entirely in acrylics. I will not bore you with the paints I use as at this paint there are several different brands being used. At this point I have not found a favorite yet. (Most paints have been bought at Micheal’s, my favorite craft store in Canada).
It usually takes me several days to weeks to do a painting. With drying time, and deciding how to proceed, it is a process that can not be rushed.
And here is my Wicked Witch from the East, Octobers monthly face, just in time for Halloween.
