Moving the old bath tub
The old cast iron bathtub has been siting in my front yard for about 30 years.
Last spring we decided to move it to a different spot so it can be used for growing plants.
With the tractor and loader the bathtub was hoisted in the air and moved to the beginning of the drive way.

Rusty Bathtub
Then the cleanup began, with a steel brush and lots of elbow grease, the worst of the rust was removed. A bit of sanding and clean up and the bathtub was ready for a face lift.

Getting painted

Taking out the roots
The middle son rooted some of the dirt around the bathtub loose and this helped a lot with removing roots and other debris. Then more soil was added to fill the holes.

Plants around the base
My oldest boy had some extra Hostas and Day-lilies and I planted some around the base of the bathtub.
I hope they will grow in nicely this coming spring and so add some interest and color to a wasted spot along the driveway. So far I have not decided if I will be filling the bathtub with soil again, or if I will make a base in the bottom and then add planted pots with flowers. I will have some time to think about it before I have to decide.
